Spring Break

For Spring Break this year, we decided we'd try to motivate the kiddos a little to learn some things that have been difficult for them.  Then we'd take them to a hotel to swim.  Emerson was working on writing her numbers the right way (none backwards) and Landon was working on tying his shoes.  They both worked really hard and got a lot better so we took them to Toys 'R Us to pick out a new toy and then went to the Farmstead Inn in Shipshewana for an overnight visit.  They had a ball swimming in the pool (which is really nice there) and going on a carousel ride.
Em loves her doll, Sadie, that she got for Christmas. She wants to take her EVERYWHERE!  She even packed Sadie clothes and toys to play with.

We went to visit JoJo's Pretzels (YUM!) and Landon was convinced he liked the hot mustard on his pretzel....I'm not so sure.

We also got to spend a lot of family time together playing, watching movies, and being outside.  Matt and I got quite a few projects done around the house too.  We are very blessed to be able to have time as a family!

Easter

Easter is one of our favorite holidays!  He is risen!  This year, we had Good Friday off and it was the Friday before Spring Break, so we had an extra long break.  We decided to color eggs.  Emerson was very meticulous about each egg....Landon not so much. :)  But I think they both had a good time.

On Easter, we got up early to attend the sunrise service at 7, breakfast at 7:30, egg hunt at 8:30, and then our regular service at 9.  It makes for a busy morning, but I love all of the fellowship.
Easter morning
After church, we came home and the kids were super excited about opening their Easter baskets.  We don't give them much candy because they get A LOT from the egg hunts they do.

Then we had lunch at mom and dad's, which is always delicious.  And the kiddos had another egg hunt, outside this time.  It is quite difficult to get good pictures at this time!!

We have another Easter celebration tomorrow with the Hahns.

April Fool's Day

I'm not usually too big on April Fool's Day.  Last year, I introduced the idea to the kids and they thought it was hilarious (thankfully I didn't tell them until supper time so I didn't get "tricked" too much) :)!  But this year, I wanted to do something different so I made cupcakes for supper.  They were actually meatloaf cupcakes wrapped in cupcake wrappers.  Although Emerson caught on pretty quick, it took Landon a bite to realize it was meatloaf and mashed potatoes, not a chocolate cupcake! :)
 He was not too impressed!
She thought it was awesome to eat the mashed potatoes out of the frosting bag.
Maybe next year I should go the opposite way and use dessert to look like a main dish.  I'm sure Landon would enjoy that more!!

March fun

March is usually a pretty low key month for our family (or at least I don't take a lot of pictures) ;).   We always enjoy going swimming at NW with the Sunday school class.  The kids LOVE swimming; it just takes Landon a little while to get used to the water again!

This year for Palm Sunday, Rex Holdeman asked the kids to help him perform a song.  His kids used to do it with him, but that was awhile ago! :)  Landon had a small solo and Em got to carry the lamb to the song "Watch the Lamb".  It was really sweet.  Matt even got to play the part of Jesus.

We are excited to be  ushering in some warmer weather and time for everybody to be back outside again!
