Disney Surprise and Stitch Fix #5

We surprised the kiddos by announcing we are taking a trip to Walt Disney World this summer.  We got Emerson a Princess Jasmine outfit and Landon a travel activity book.  Inside each gift was also a piece of a puzzle...In June, we are flying to....and then I showed them a Disney box.  Emerson unsurely said, "Are we going to Disney World?"  They were really cute because neither one got very excited, but after we looked at some videos and talked about it, they got more excited about it.  I videoed their reaction, but it is too big for Blogger to load :(.  We are keeping a countdown and everyday Em makes sure it is up to date.
So, because my last fix didn't turn out very well, I decided to schedule another one (within 2 weeks) to see if there was something I would really like and would fit.  I told my stylist (Arianne this time) that I'd like some spring colors, shorter dress, and that I was going to Disney in June.  This is what she sent:
Pixley Mori Henley Top $48
This tank was ok for me.  I didn't love the print and I wasn't a huge fan of the collar on it.  Luckily, it was really large in front and the arm holes were too big for me, so I didn't have to decide if I liked it enough to keep.
Verdict: Return
Dear John Finnegan Roll Cuff Short $58
These shorts are AWESOME!  They look like denim, but they feel like super soft cotton.  I was so sure I was keeping these shorts when I first tried them on.  I've been looking for some jean shorts and these were super....but then I tried them on a second time and realized they were too big in the waist.  I was so bummed that I kept them on for awhile just to be sure they really wouldn't work.  The legs fit great, so I didn't think a smaller size would work.
Verdict: Sadly Return
 Pixley Alison Swing Dress $48
Loved this dress.  Matt wasn't so sure because it is plain, but it is so comfy!  I could see me dressing it up or down and wearing it a lot of different places.  It'd be great to hang around the theme parks at Disney too!
Verdict: Keep
Skies are Blue Ortega Open Knit Perforated Cardigan $48
I was a bit on the fence about this one.  I love the color and the uniqueness of the back.  I just wasn't sure if I'd wear it a lot since the color isn't my neutral cardigan that I'm used too.  I decided that it'd be great for cool spring/summer evenings.
Verdict: Keep

Street Level Anchorage Diamond Printed Tote $64
This time I decided to check that I'd like a purse/bag since I really need a new purse (my handles are falling apart).  I got sent this tote, which is really cute.  The bad part is that it is HUGE!  It'd be great for vacation, but I don't know that I'd use it much more than that.
Verdict: Return

So, I bought the dress and cardigan this time, which I am happy with.  I got $40 in gift cards from Christmas thanks to my awesome family and had $20 applied from my styling fees.  So I got both items for less than the price of one.  So excited!!

Stitch fix box #4

I was really excited to get my fourth box from Stitch Fix. If you are new to this service, you can get more info here with my referral link .  I scheduled it to come over Spring Break since we didn't go anywhere, and it arrived right on time.  This time I asked for some springy items.  I wanted some spring colored pants and a floral (but not too crazy) top. I didn't style anything with accessories or shoes.  My adorable nephew was napping in my room. :)  Here is what I got:
Gilli Mattie Crossback Maxi Dress $78
As soon as I pulled this dress from the box, I thought, I do not like this pattern.  I tried it on, because sometimes things look better on.  But I still didn't like it.  The back was really neat, I liked the crossback.  But I also didn't like how it highlighted my stomach with the clingy fabric.
Verdict: Return

Margaret M Emer Printed Straight Leg Pant $98
These are ADORABLE!  I love the color and pattern of the pants.  Unfortunately, they were too tight for me.  I had a hard time getting them over my thighs.  I didn't want to go a size bigger though, because I think they would be too big in the waist.  So sad :(
Verdict: Return

Brixon Ivy Midori Ballet Tie Wrap Sweater $54
Honestly, this sweater confused me when I first tried it on :).  But once I figured it out, I really liked it.  It is SUPER soft and comfortable.  Unfortunately, no one else in my family really liked it and I thought it was a bit expensive for me.
Verdict: Return

Market and Spruce Kesey Knit Romper $64
First, I'm not a fan of rompers, the whole one piece thing I don't like.  Emmy approved though and said we could be twins since she has several and they look really cute on her.  I wasn't real excited about the pattern either, but it was a REALLY comfortable knit.
Verdict: Return

Pixley Cyprian Henley Blouse $58
Here is a floral shirt, just like I requested.  It wasn't too crazy, also like I requested.  But I didn't really like the pattern.  I'm sure my mom has dishes in a similar pattern and Landon said it reminded him of a grandma...so
Verdict: Return

Unfortunately, this was my first box that I didn't LOVE anything in it enough to keep.  I had a different stylist, Jasmine, this time.  I don't know how much that affected the box.  I was a bit disappointed, but I know there are many times when I go shopping for myself and don't find what I'm looking for.  I already scheduled another fix, hoping if I'm more specific with what I want, I'll have better luck.

A Week of Superstars

We had a busy week this week getting to see some famous people.
Margaret Peterson Haddix, a great children's book author, came to Woodview.  We had been reading her books and she did not disappoint.   The kids were thrilled to get to see her and have a book signed by her.

On Friday, the Davis', Fallers, and Matt and I went to Marion to a Need to Breathe  Concert (or as my kiddos called it, Take A Breath concert).  We had a good time eating at Culver's and enjoying the ride together.  Mom and Dad kept the kids overnight so we didn't have to worry about picking them up, either.
We were really confused when the hosts kept talking about fusion...apparently it was a youth conference happening that night, so we fit right in! :)

But the biggest stars were Landon and Emmy in their first concert at NorthWood.  They sang several songs and were super cute on stage. :)
Love these moments together!
