Summer Recap: August

It was long past time for us to update our living room furniture.  The recliner we had was a hand me down from my grandpa and our sectional was sinking on one side and not real comfortable anymore.  Matt and I went furniture shopping on our anniversary date and found this couch, loveseat, recliner, coffee table, and 2 end tables at Art Van Furniture in Mishawaka.  So far, we LOVE it!  Everything reclines and is really comfy.  It's quite a bit larger than our other furniture, but everything fits! 😁

The first weekend of August, we finally found a summer date to go camping with the Davis family.  We had wanted to go to Warren Dunes and camp there, but a few weeks before, there were 0 campsites.  Actually there were 0 campsites anywhere near Lake Michigan for that weekend.  So, we ended up in France Park in Logansport.  It is by a quarry so the water was beautifully clear and nice.  There were bike trails, a waterfall, disc golf, and a lot for the kids to do.  The campsites themselves were really small.  We ended up in a different spot than we reserved which was bigger and closer to the beach.  We realized on this trip that our water tank is really small (after I was halfway through a shower and ran out of water!).

Soccer season ended just as school was about to start.  Landon and Emmy played on the same team as last year and had a great time.  Landon scored several goals and Emmy tried her hand at being goalie. ⚽

Go #9 and #10!
I usually take my own sports pictures of the kids because they are so expensive so on the last night, I had Emmy take photos while Landon was finishing supper (he's the last one EVERY night!).  I thought, no problem, I'll just take Landon's pictures when we get home.

Unfortunately, our game was cut short with this rainy weather and the only picture I got of Landon was...
in the garage!
This sweet boy turned 3 on August 13th.  It was a beautiful day and great for swimming in the pond!

Caleb loves the Disney show "Lion Guard"!

Happy birthday to this sweet, smart, inquisitive boy!

Soccer and Caleb turns 2

Both kids played on the Ravens soccer team this year.  I am imagining I'm getting close to not having both on the same team, but boy is it easier!  They had a great time playing, as always, and both got better as the year progressed.  Landon scored a few goals and Emmy finally got in there and went after the ball instead of waiting for it to come to her.⚽⚽⚽

Coaches: Charlie and Gavin
Back row: Brennan, Malyk, Eli, Kylie, Henry, Mackenzie, Tatiana, Ava
Front row: Charli, Brayden, Landon, Emmy, Lennon

On August 13th, we got to celebrate Caleb turning 2!  He LOVES Micky Mouse Clubhouse so that was the theme this year.  It was so cute.  Caleb is one special little boy.

This littlest lady is pretty special too!  She's 3 months old and so adorable!

Steven and Kristina were great hosts and we had so much fun celebrating this sweet little guy!

End of summer pictures

Yes, I realize it is not technically the end of summer yet.  But with school back in session (we've got a whole 13 days in already), the carefree days of summer vacation are over for us.  But, we made a lot of great memories.
4H Fair
We spent 2 days at the fair this year.  On Saturday, our church helps in the pork producers building.  This year, the kids helped us out because we were serving drinks.  It was miserably hot (as you can see by their red faces), but they did a great job helping.  A highlight for them is always riding the rides.

This year, they had a really neat butterfly exhibit where you could go in a tent with a sugar stick and you could watch the butterflies eat.  It was really cool!

Our second day at the fair was a Wednesday.  We went to watch Grace show her pigs and then since it was kids day, the kids wanted to ride more rides.  I love that they are getting more adventurous and want to do the big rides now!  We had a great time on another blazing hot day.

Soccer
The soccer season ended the Saturday before school started.  The kids had so much fun this season.

Landon enjoyed the physical part of the game where Emmy enjoyed the social aspect of it. :)

Great season Marlins!

Strikes and Spares
On the last day before I had to head back to work, the kids decided they wanted to go to Strikes and Spares in Mishawaka.  We had a fun day mini bowling, riding bumper cars, mini golfing, and playing arcade games.  I also snuck in a little school shopping at Old Navy. :)
