Chicago Trip!

We had a great short vacation in Chicago.  Landon loves baseball and he really wanted to see the Cubs play.  Emerson really didn't!  So she and I headed to Shedd Aquarium while the boys went to the game.  We had a nice time seeing a 4D movie, dolphin show, and all the animals.

We both really thought the sting ray touch was awesome!  The sting rays just floated by as you touched their backs.  They also had a starfish touch, but Em didn't like that one as much because the water was 50 degrees!

Front row for the dolphin show.  There were also penguins and a dog.
Best decorated dog statue: Bears and Cubs
After the aquarium, since the boys were still at the game, we walked (2.5 miles!) to the American Girl store, where Emmy picked out a dog for her doll with a leash, and Lego store.  We were exhausted after this busy day.
Meanwhile, the boys were at the Cubs game.
They had a great time even though...
there were 3 rain delays!  The game started 1.5 hours late.  And sadly, the Cubs lost.  But Landon had a great experience.
We spent the night and decided to go to Willis Tower the next day.  Matt and I hadn't been up in years and the kids never had.

Landon wasn't too sure about going out in the glass box 103 floors above Chicago!

Afterwards, we had to stop at Giordanos and get some deep dish pizza.  The wait was 20 minutes, the pizza took about 45, but it was worth it!  So yummy!
A great end of summer adventure!

Late Father's Day and Fun in Ft. Wayne

Matt was in Boundary Waters on his yearly trip over Father's Day again.  He had a nice group of kids and good fishing, but it was really cool and rainy.  We were so happy to have him home again.  The kids made some gifts for him.

Emmy painted a box for Matt to use in the barn for his tools.  Landon made a card and put some money in it.
A few days later, we decided to go to Ft. Wayne to spend the day.  We did some shopping at Jefferson Pointe and ate at Flat Top Grill.  Nice day away with the family.

Everybody enjoyed Flat Top, even our picky eater!

Stitch Fix #8

Since I didn't keep anything in my last box, I scheduled a new fix to come soon after.  I still asked for some colorful pants and tops that aren't blouses, since that's mostly what I got in my last fix.  If you haven't heard of or used Stitch Fix before, check it out here: Stitch Fix

Here is what came in my box:
Froxx Vivyan Scoop Neck Knit Top $48
I liked this top a lot.  It was really comfortable and fit well.  The problem is that I have 2 black/white striped shirts already, so I didn't feel like I could buy a third. 😁
Returned
Kut from the Kloth Siena Cropped Pant $58
These pants are awesome!  They are really comfortable and I love the red!  When I asked for colored pants, this is what I had in mind.
Kept
Skies are Blue Hillsboro Mixed Material Hem Knit Top $54
Here's the front and back of this shirt.  It was really comfortable, but seemed a little plain for me.  It was also a bit too big.
Returned
Liverpool Mirabella Roll Cuff Skinny Jean $98
I loved the color of these pants as well.  Unfortunately, I could barely pull them up.  They were VERY tight.
Returned
41Hawthorne Valerie Tie Wrap Knit Top $48
This top was really comfortable and I liked the style.  Unfortunately, if you look at the picture below, you can see why I didn't keep it.
Returned
Yep, this dress I got in a previous fix!  Love the dress and wear it a lot, but the print is the same!!

Stitch Fix #7

I got another box from Stitch Fix this spring.  If you aren't sure what this company is, you can check out the website here: Stitch Fix  It's so fun to get a package of clothes to try on!  I asked for fun spring/summer tops and colored pants in this fix.  Here's what I got:

Your Story Kesli Mixed Material Button Down Blouse $48

I liked this top quite a bit.  The front and back were different materials and I liked that.  I felt like it was too big on me though and there wasn't an exchange for a smaller size.
Verdict: Returned

Daniel Rainn Bettola Split Neck Blouse $64
This top I wasn't too crazy about.  The print was a little much for me and I didn't really want to pay that much for a shirt I don't love.
Verdict: Returned

Fun2Fun Kaley Henley Style Blouse $44
Mavi Aiden Colored Distressed Skinny Jean $98
This shirt was probably my least favorite.  I did not prefer the print.  It reminded me of curtains.  The jeans were pink, but when I held them up to a pair of my khaki pants, they were almost the same color.  When I asked for color on my pants, I wanted something more bright than these.
Verdict on both: Returned

Daniel Rainn Paula Pleated Henley Blouse $64
I really liked the color on this one and the sleeves are super cute.  Unfortunately, I thought this was a bit big and it was pretty see through.
Verdict: Returned
Each fix comes with a style sheet to give you some ideas on how to style each piece.
And the price sheet.  If you buy all 5 items, you get a 25% discount on the whole box.  Unfortunately, this time I didn't keep anything so I lost my $20 styling fee, but I didn't LOVE any of it, so I sent it back and scheduled another fix!
What do you think?  What would you keep?  What would you return?

October Recap

So, yes.  I am super far behind on keeping up with my blog.  I will warn you that the next couple posts will be long so I can catch up without doing a ton of separate posts.  This is only for October! 😁
We had a lot of fun over Fall Break this year.  Unfortunately, Matt's break was a little different so we had a day without Dad.  Emerson LOVES make up and I don't usually let her play with it.  So she was super excited when I agreed to a make over. 😀
She and Landon also played school together for quite awhile.  A day of no school...let's play...school!
We also got out the pumpkin carving kit and since it was raining, lots of newspapers! 😃

Landon HATES this part!!😝

They did most of it by themselves.  Landon drew his own face and Emmy wanted an emoji with hearts for eyes.
Matt and I also got to get away a little over Fall Break.  Thanks to grandparents and Steven and Kristina!  We went to a suburb of Chicago and did some shopping at an outlet mall, ate at a winery, and since the Cubs were one game away from getting to the World Series, went to a bar to enjoy the game with some locals! :)  It was nice to have some time away together.  But we only took 1 picture!

Pictures from my 38th birthday:

We got to return the favor and watch Caleb for the night.  We had a great time.  But since he was getting up around 5:30 am....we may wait awhile to watch him again over night!! 😴

He loves his "Nanan" and "Meme".

Our Boilermaker Kids Club football game was at the end of October, which I was originally bummed about because I figured it would be cold or rainy.  But we got to go on a gorgeous day!  The sun was shining and we were actually sweating in the stands.  The football team is MISERABLE so the game wasn't too great.  But we had a good time with the Bergers and Rummels in the stands.

High fiving the football team

Alright...last one for this post.  We had a scary Halloween dinner complete with worms, fingers, and brains! 😋

Emmy as Wonder Woman

Landon as an Imperial Ninja

Visiting Papa B and Memaw we ran into Axel Rose!
I'm sure this isn't all, but it sounds like we had busy October!
