We had a great weekend full of a lot of special people and Christmas traditions. On Friday, we got to celebrate Matt's 38th birthday. We went to Chubby Trout for dinner and came home to open presents. We are so thankful for such a wonderful role model and a dad who loves spending time with his kids.
On Saturday, we headed to Eby Pines to pick out our tree. After Christmas last year, we got a fake tree for a steal of a deal. That tree went down in the basement so we could still put up a real tree upstairs!
I think this is it! |
One of the best parts of the holiday is our elf, "Tricky". The kids absolutely love finding him each day. I think Emerson has written him 5-6 notes in the 6 days he's been with us this year. He likes "elf food".
On Tricky's first visit, he brought us a gingerbread village to decorate. It was A LOT to do. The kids are getting old enough that they did almost all of it themselves. Matt put the houses together (I did 1 1/2 and got too frustrated with it!!) on Saturday. Then we decorated them Sunday afternoon.
What a good looking village!
We are really enjoying this season with the kids, trying the make the most of everyday while keeping them focused on the real reason for our celebration. Landon wanted to write Christ and C.B. (Christ's birthday) on his houses. Hopefully they're getting the message. :)
What great memories! We never made it to see Santa this year. I didn't really think about it until I saw your post.
