3rd graders??

Ok, did you all hear about the 3rd graders in Georgia who planned to kill their teacher?? I just heard about it today at school. Apparently, a group of 3rd graders had a pretty detailed plot made, weapons brought to school, etc. in a plan to kill their teacher for yelling at one of them to get off of a chair. Here is a link to the story I found: http://www.live5news.com/home/17210311.html
Wow! That is quite shocking to me that 8 and 9 year olds would think that that is a good way to solve a problem. Gotta love being a teacher! ;) Although, being an elementary teacher, I thought I was a little safer than high school or even middle school. You've got to wonder where they got the idea and why they thought it would work. It's pretty sad and scary! What do you think?

  1. i was shocked when i heard about that this morning. that is crazy that people think that a solution to any situation they face could be to hurt or kill someone...especially at such a young age. i think there is a real problem when values and morals and respect for others simply goes straight out the window as individuals fight for power, revenge, or just the struggle to prove themselves. those kids are lost...like many others!...and that is sad!

Wow, that is crazy. I hadn't heard that. How sad.
But as I am an opinionated person I feel I have to comment about the fact that these children are learning from "the institution" meaning government, etc... We have taught children that if you kill someone we'll put you to death to show everyone else it was wrong to kill. We're one of very few "civilized" nations that still have a death penalty. Also, with our let's war with people that we disagree with now-a-days, no wonder kids are learning to solve problems with violence. video games, tv, eh. But thats just my opinion;)
